Combination Classes
*Combination of the classes listed above in a 1 hour time slot.
- Acrobatics: Acrobatics teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline & concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique. Students will learn such things as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance, & contortion tricks. Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, flexibility, & strength. The Premier School of Dance will offer Acro I and Acro II, placement is based on skill level.
- Baby Dance: Is an introduction into movement for our 2 and 3 year olds. Within this hour long class we will work on both basic ballet concepts, along with beginner tap steps.
- Ballet I: An introduction to ballet with beginning development of ballet concepts including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness and a specific focus on class etiquette. Students will begin positions of the feet, and introductory movement vocabulary.
- Ballet II: The goal of Ballet Level 1 is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology and musicality. Students will be introduced to elementary barre and center work.
- Ballet III: As with each level, students are invited to Ballet Level 2 after they have demonstrated full understanding of the previous level. Body alignment and muscle awareness will determine progress. This class will focus on positions of the arms, direction of the body and increased movement vocabulary.
- Hip Hop: Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip hop dance requires students to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. Therefore class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.
- Baby & Me: This 30-minute class is designed as movement exploration for children ages 18-24 months to complete with their moms. The use of props, mats, and sing along songs allows each mom to help their child develop motor and coordination skills in a fun, structured environment with a Premier School of Dance instructor. This class is a perfect opportunity for babies to get in on the dance fun before they are old enough to join class on their own for more dance instruction.
- Jazz: Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. The Premier School of Dance will offer Jazz I and Jazz II, placement is based on skill level.
- Leaps & Turns: Leaps and Turns class is a special class we are offer to help dancers work on these often challenging areas of dance. Classes will be designed to help each dancer identify and work on specific techniques and skills needed to improve their understanding and performance of these specific moves.
- Technique: Technique class is a fun class that will help dancers of any level become better dancers. This class will help you develop a stronger core for better balance on turns, strengthen your legs for more powerful leaps, and increase upper body strength for controlled execution of choreography. Plus this class incorporates cardiovascular activities to give you increased stamina and endurance for performances.
- Tap: Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
