Heather Michael started her dance training at the age of 8 in Birmingham, Alabama under the direction of Monica Barnett Smith who was a former Principal dancer with the Alabama Ballet. Heather continued her dance training at the Fort Wayne School of Dance in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 16. She then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and continued her Ballet training at the Indianapolis School of Ballet under the direction of Victoria Lyras who was a former Principal dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Heather discovered her love for teaching at the age of 11 when she was asked to assist in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz classes with children between the ages of 3-14. She has been teaching her own classes since the age of 16 in 2002; ages 2 1/2 to Adult in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Pointe.
Heather has performed in many Ballet productions including “Swan Lake” Corps de Ballet, “The Nutcracker” Spanish Chocolate, Corps de Ballet, “Sleeping Beauty” Diamond Fairy, “Coppelia” Corps de Ballet, “Cinderella” Corps de Ballet and many more. She also performed many Ballet solos such as “The Dying Swan”, “Winter Fairy” Sleeping Beauty, “Kitri’s Variation” Don Quixote, “Toccato and Fuge in D Minor”, “Mystic Dreams” and many more.
Heather has taken master classes from famous Ballet dancers including Edward Villella - Artistic Director of the Miami City Ballet, Wes Chapman - former Artistic Director of the Alabama Ballet, Roger Van Feteren - Assistant Artistic Director of the Alabama Ballet, Suki Schorer - Ballet Mistress of The American Ballet Theatre, Scott Jovovich - Former Principal dancer with the Joffery Ballet, The Pittsburg Ballet, and many more. Heather taught Ballet, Tap, and Jazz to over 200 students of all ages in Carmel, IN for many years. She also taught over 200 students in Concord, NC for many years.
